ROSALINE SHAHNAVAZ

In 2018, Emily collaborated with photographer Rosaline Shahnavaz on a series with the aim to explore beauty trends, hacks and standards, femininity and what it means to have alopecia.

Rosaline and Emily worked together over the course of a year, capturing moments from Emily's day-to-day life, visiting wig shops and learning about caps, clips, tape, glue, spray, washing and everything in between.

Although Emily always wanted to write about her experiences, it wasn't until revisiting these photos years later that her show BASIC BALD B*TCH was born. They reconnected her to the original intention of this series: to examine what it means to feel liberated as a woman with alopecia and the importance of choice: wigs, no wigs, hair, no hair, make up, no makeup.

ISAAC QURESHI

In collaboration with Alopecia UK

In May 2025, Isaac Qureshi held an exhibition in London showcasing photographs from his documentary series titled ‘True Crowns’ in connection with Alopecia UK.

‘Each portrait is an intimate exploration of identity, where the absence of hair becomes a powerful canvas for resilience and self-acceptance’

- Isaac Qureshi

For this shoot, Emily and Isaac collaborated on ideas. After reflecting on her recent cabaret work at Soho Theatre and her latest show at Brixton House, they came up with two contrasting looks.
